Energy Prices (mid July 2013)

Since the start of the month both short and long-term prices have barely shifted. Day-ahead prices saw brief variance as the heatwave sweeping the UK pushed demand for air conditioning.

Past heatwaves may have led to spikes in power prices, however experts suggest that the surge in solar power capacity along with lower general demand for energy due to the recession have aided in preventing such spikes.
