4th Carbon Budget 2023 to 2027

Britain is to establish ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets that commit the UK to halving carbon dioxide emissions by 2025.

Chris Huhne, the energy and climate secretary, yesterday released the "fourth carbon budget" targets for the period 2023 to 2027 and that they would become set down in law.

The policies necessary to meet the carbon targets will be issued in October.

The carbon budget for 2023 to 2027 will go towards the legally binding emissions cuts of 80% by 2050, with an interim measure of 60% reduction by 2030, compared to 1990 CO2 levels.
